The Representation of Older People in Ageing Research is a long-running series of seminars run jointly by the Centre for Ageing and Biographical Studies (The Open University) and the Centre for Policy on Ageing. We examine both traditional and innovative methodological approaches to ageing research.

Recent research involving older people living with various forms of dementia and their carers has explored many different ways of communicating the experience of living day-to-day with these complex conditions. From art and writing to walking interviews and multi-sensory biographies, researchers have begun to reach beyond more traditional methods. This seminar will allow discussion of some of these newer methods, the advantages and problems in using them, and what comes next.
